  • Life HaloSep inaugurated - a unique facility for fly ash recycling

    On November 17, Stena Metall, together with the Danish company Vestforbrænding, inaugurated the world's first full-scale HaloSep plant. The plant converts fly ash from incineration processes into useful resources such as metals and salt, as well as purified fly ash. The ash is today classified as a hazardous waste that may only be disposed of in special landfills.

  • Quayside powerbanks – The next step in the electrification of shipping

    Stena is now taking the next step in shipping electrification: the development of a new type of energy storage, similar to very large powerbanks, which will be essential for the quick charging of electric ferries in the future. The project is part-financed by the EU and will, among other things, investigate how used batteries from the transport sector can be reused for energy storage in ports.

  • Stena gives Volvo bus batteries a second life

    The commercial service lives of bus batteries are significantly extended and natural resources are conserved. That is the result of a new cooperation between Volvo Buses and Stena Recycling subsidiary Batteryloop.   • The premiere of the Circular Initiative gathered leading industrial companies

    To create circular material flows, there is a need for cooperation, concrete plans and bold goals. Stena Recycling's new sustainability event Circular Initiative gathered over 200 people, when representatives from leading industrial companies met to discuss solutions for a sustainable future.

  • Industrial giants in new initiative for circular flows

    Swedish companies can do more to prevent waste and make better use of the waste that is produced in various types of industry. With technical development and new broader collaborations, resources can be saved and multiple circular flows can be created. This is a necessity if there are to be enough resources for tomorrow.

  • Stena Aluminium named best supplier of the year 2018

    Stena Aluminium has been named “Best Supplier of the Year 2018” by Gnutti Carlo Light Metal Division. Gnutti Carlo Light Metal Division is the owner of the aluminium foundry Ljunghäll in Sweden and also has foundries in China and the Czech Republic. Soon they will also open a foundry in Canada.

  • First report on green bond

    In May, the Stena Metall Group issued its first green bond, amounting to SEK 800 million, with the money being earmarked for sustainable investment in the Stena Nordic Recycling Center. The first report has now been published, which specifically shows where the money has been spent.

  • Stena Metall Group has issued its inaugural green bond

    Interest from investors was considerable when the Stena Metall Group issued its first green bond on May 23. The amount was SEK 800 million with a term of five years. The net proceeds is earmarked for sustainable investments in the Stena Nordic Recycling Center, one of Europe's most advanced and efficient recycling plants, where cars can be recycled up to 95%.

  • Stena Oil expands in collaboration with the port of Frederikshavn

    Stena Oil has signed an agreement to create a new marine fuel terminal in the Port of Frederikshavn. The facility will be fully adapted for the new Sulphur Directive 2020 and its location will reduce the distances travelled by bunkering vessels. The oil terminal will be the largest of its kind in Scandinavia, with a capacity of 75 000 cubic metres.

  • The Stena Nordic Recycling Center receives award

    The Stena Nordic Recycling Center took the Waste Processor of the Year award (Årets avfallsbehandlare) at the Recycling Gala, held at Berns in Stockholm on January 25th.

  • Stena Recycling AB is expanding in Sweden

    Stena acquired IL Recycling AB in 2016 and, after a transition process, the company will become part of Stena Recycling AB on March 1. This strengthens the company's position as a provider of total recycling services in Sweden.
